Reminiscing the good old days..

Reminiscing the good old days..

caution: this post is solely for reminiscing purposes.. that comes with a tinge of haolian-ness and mushiness.

SwissWinds is used to be known as SwissBand by many many ppl in my generation. The stubborn old me still prefer to address it as swissband lar. U jus duno the difficulty and agony i met when it's time to fall out (kanan busein?) and shout out thes tongues tyings "swisswinds", instead of the good, old and humble "swissband".

Recently, someone brought up that swissband has gotten gold with honours this year. And my first immediate reaction was... "ohh..". A plain, indifferent ohh.... I jus could not bring out the same joy and contentment i had 5 years ago.. omg, 5 whooping years liao??.. I did not even jump for joy when my own SAJC band clinched a gold medal in 2001..
in fact, i was pretty devastated when SAJC got into the finals... think, 1 more round of intensive trainings againn.. and an even stiffer competition.. argh. why did i join sajc band ar?!!!

Looking back.. i'm glad that i was part of the swissband family back then even though it didn't end perfectly as it should have.

Swissband taught me what madness passion is. I still remember the good old days when I wud meet up with a few friends to practise in the bandroom before school everyday!! When the bandroom was closed for exams, some crazy very patriotic and loyal ppl like me will gather at the corridor outside bandroom.. for i dun remember wat oso. Oh mann.. those were the days.... where can i find such time now??!! :'(

hmm.. alot of ppl say first love is the most difficult to forget. i hope the same applies here too: the first gold is the most difficult to forget.. we had made historical record (i abit kua zhang) when we clinched the first gold medal ever for swiss cottage secondary school in 1999. It's pure sweat and blood okiee.. dun mind me haolian here hor.. Back then, we never tasted gold before, we were all yearning for it and the "band to get gold medal in 1999" wish was almost never left out in the sec2s autograph books. We will always be remembered as the first batch to open the gold medal way.... provided that we werent badmouthed by SOME ppl..

haha.. enuff of the first gold. I'm gonna talk abt my first formal band concert at victoria concert hall. It's the hardest to forget too. I could still list out that night's repertoire now - but mabbe not in sequence larr. They are:
1. Trailrage Saga
2. Declaration, Ballad and Finale
3. Yagi Bushi
4. Yorkshire Ballad
+ interval +
5. Asean Selections
6. Memories of the 60s
7. Carribean Hideaway
8. La Storia -the song where everyone cries

encore: el carilaro unsure of the spelling now

somehow i think i still got the sequence correct. hmm.. any challenges? hehee

Swissband is also the place where my jiemei-ships were forged.. The same shoes, same black-white friendship bands, same smiley keychains, similar outdoor bags.. etc etc.. Ohh!! and the "save the lecture" teeshirts which attracted alot of unwelcome attention in malaysia.. heehee..

Even though the passion died (regretfully), I'm glad my jiemei-ship will never go away..and the good old memories will never be forgotten..
